Kerin Bischoff Clapp, J.D.
Professor of Legal Practice

Kerin Bischoff Clapp brings experience in private practice, government service, and education to her teaching at Wilmington University Farnan School of Law. Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Professor Clapp focuses on foundational legal writing and analysis. Her work with students at many stages of the path to becoming attorneys informs a teaching approach centered on each student’s individual development.

Professor Clapp began her legal career as a federal judicial law clerk to Judge Norma L. Shapiro in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She later worked as a litigation associate at a large Philadelphia firm, representing clients in federal and state courts throughout the litigation process. She then joined the United States Postal Service Law Department, serving as in-house counsel and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney responsible for first-chair litigation.

Since 2010, Professor Clapp has concentrated her professional work on teaching and mentoring students in higher and legal education. Before joining the Farnan School of Law in 2025, she spent six years on the business school faculty at Saint Joseph’s University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in business law, law for entrepreneurs, and negotiation and conflict resolution. She also advised students in the Management Department and coordinated the Law Endowment Fund. Earlier, she taught legal writing, legal analysis, and bar preparation at Villanova Law School and Delaware Law School, taught in the business school at Eastern University, and spent a decade tutoring students and developing pre-law programs with the Law School and Bar Exam Toolbox team.

Professor Clapp earned her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as an executive editor and published member of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism, summa cum laude, from Bowling Green State University. In the classroom, she helps students build confidence through strong writing, advocacy, and audience-centered communication while creating a community that is warm, engaging, and challenging.
