Stephen Johnson, J.D.
Visiting Professor of Law

Stephen Johnson is a Visiting Professor of Law at Wilmington University Farnan School of Law, where he teaches Torts. He has taught at Mercer University School of Law since 1993 and served for 10 years as Mercer’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. At Mercer, he teaches Environmental Law, Administrative Law, Statutory Law, and Torts. He is also an adjunct professor at Vermont Law and Graduate School and has previously taught at Notre Dame Law School and the University of Granada. As a Fulbright Lecturer, he taught at Waseda University and the University of Tokyo.

Before entering legal education, Professor Johnson served as Assistant Counsel for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, now the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and as a Trial Attorney in the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. His scholarship includes four books and more than 50 law review articles published in journals such as the Washington and Lee Law Review, Wisconsin Law Review, and Administrative Law Review.

Professor Johnson also has a longstanding interest in the use of technology in legal education, an interest rooted in his undergraduate degree in computer science from Villanova University. He has authored dozens of CALI exercises and two ebooks and has served on CALI’s Board of Directors for nearly 30 years, including four years as board president.

Outside the classroom, Professor Johnson enjoys hiking, running, and traveling. He is also an avid sports fan who follows the New York Mets, Villanova Wildcats, and Liverpool F.C. and spends too much time managing his fantasy sports rosters.
