New Student Orientation

Welcome to WilmU Law!

Congratulations! We are excited to meet YOU, the inaugural class, at Wilmington University School of Law.  Orientation serves as an introduction to your law school experience, acquainting you with the classroom, library, faculty, staff, and other members of the Wilmington legal community.   

Orientation 2024 takes place Monday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 14 at the School of Law, located at the Brandywine Campus. Events take place in the evenings from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm each night. Dinner will be provided. All incoming students are expected to participate in the full orientation program. Additional activities will be completed virtually through Canvas in your student portal.

 

Monday, August 12 – Joining the Legal Community

Highlights: Welcome from the Dean, Honor Code Oath, Developing Professional Identity, and Introductory Legal Skills

Tuesday, August 13 – Basics for 1L Students at WilmU

Highlights: Meet WilmU Campus Representatives, Financial Literacy, Wellness, and Introductory Legal Skills

Wednesday, August 14 – Learning from Others’ Experiences

Highlights: Networking with the Legal Community, Engaging in Challenging Conversations and Diverse Perspectives

Enrollment Begins:

All 1L students who have completed pre-registration requirements will be enrolled in late June. Check your email during June for details.  Students admitted after initial registration will be enrolled on a rolling basis.

Laptop Requirement:

All incoming students are required to have a laptop computer. For details on the laptop minimum specifications, see Laptop Requirement.

Accessibility:

The Office of Student Accessibility Services facilitates equal access to Wilmington University programs and activities for students with documented physical, sensory, learning, or psychological disabilities. Law School 101:

Participate in a free, online introduction to law school course during the summer. Participants must be enrolled J.D. (Juris Doctor) students for the fall semester at Wilmington University. Details will be announced.

Textbooks:

Textbook and course materials will be available in the Campus Store at Brandywine in August.

University ID Card:

Obtain your WilmU ID, which can be issued following your class registration. A University ID card is required to be prominently displayed at all WilmU locations. Visit the Security Desk at the Brandywine Campus to obtain your card.
