Transfer Admission Requirements

Wilmington University School of Law accepts transfer applications from students who attended an ABA approved law school.  Applicants must be in good standing at their current/previous law school to be considered.  Applicants who are/were not in good standing are required to apply as a first-year student.

Fall 2025 Transfer JD Application Instructions

 

Important information for international students needing a Visa - We cannot enroll students who require a Visa in order to attend since we received ABA approval in March 2025.

 

  1. The Application Form (Required)

    Submitted online via the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). An account with LSAC is required to complete this step.  Be sure to select the transfer application.
  2. Credential Assembly Service (Required)

    All applicants are required to register and submit the appropriate materials through LSAC's Credential Assembly Service (CAS), including their LSAT score(s) (if applicable), all official undergraduate, graduate and law school transcripts, and letters of recommendation.
  3. Standardized Test Score (Required)

    Law School Admission Test (LSAT) or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Test scores are valid for five years only. GRE School Code: 4014
  4. All Official Undergraduate, Graduate and Law School Transcripts (Required)

    Applicants must submit transcripts to LSAC via the Credential Assembly Service.  See Admission Policies for more details concerning transcripts.
  5. Letter of Good Standing(Required)

    Applicants are required to submit a letter of good standing from their current/previous law school.  The letter must be submitted directly from your school to the Credential Assembly Service or to WilmU Law.  Submit to Wilmu Law by mail to Wilmington University School of Law Office of Admissions, 10 Beaver Vally Road Wilmington DE 19803
  6. Two Letters of Recommendation (Encouraged)

    Applicants are encouraged to submit up to two letters of recommendation through the Credential Assembly Service. Both academic and professional recommendations may be submitted. Additional letters of recommendation may be submitted by email to lawadmissions@wilmu.edu.
  7. Personal Statement (Encouraged)

    Applicants are encouraged to submit a personal statement. The personal statement is an opportunity to provide the admissions committee with additional information regarding your background, experiences, and interests. The statement should be attached to your online application and be limited to two double-spaced pages.
  8. Resume (Encouraged)

    Applicants are encouraged to submit a resume detailing your education, employment, skills, honors, awards, and accomplishments. The resume should be attached to your online application.
  9. Character and Fitness Responses

    The application contains questions concerning the applicant’s character and fitness for admission to the bar. Affirmative answers to these questions must be accompanied by an addendum explaining the affirmative character and fitness answer.

Qualifications for Admission to the Bar: In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction. Addresses for all relevant agencies are available through the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
