Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning at WilmU Law provides students with an opportunity to actively engage in practical, real-world legal tasks, either simulated or actual, enhancing their understanding of the law and its application in practice. Through this holistic and pragmatic approach to legal education, students gain practical skills and deepen their understanding of legal doctrines and principles. Incorporating experiential learning into the law school’s curriculum ensures that students are not only well-versed in legal theory but also equipped with the skills and experience they need to be effective and ethical lawyers. WilmU Law offers experiential learning through externships and simulation courses.

Requirements for Students

WilmU Law offers an expansive range of experiential learning courses designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. As part of the graduation requirement, WilmU Law students must successfully complete one or more experiential learning course(s) totaling at least six credit hours. Students may begin earning experiential learning credits in the fourth semester for full-time students and in the sixth semester for part-time students. Experiential learning includes simulation courses and externships that focus on professional skills needed for competent and ethical participation as a member of the legal profession.
